Abaddon Incarnate was formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1994 and quickly established itself as one of the most uncompromising names in the Irish extreme metal underground. Originally operating under the name Bereaved, the band released two demo tapes — Signs of Death (1992) and Tortured Souls (1994) — before changing their name to Abaddon Incarnate for the release of the demo When the Demons Come.
Blending savage grindcore intensity with blackened death metal aggression, the band developed a sound influenced by acts such as Nasum, Brutal Truth, Immolation and Morbid Angel. Over the years the band released a series of critically acclaimed albums including The Last Supper (1999), Nadir (2001), Dark Crusade (2003), Cascade (2009), Pessimist (2014), and The Wretched Sermon (2022).

The band has toured extensively across Europe, South America, and Australia, becoming the first Irish extreme metal band to perform in Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru. Throughout their career Abaddon Incarnate has worked with several respected underground labels including Season of Mist, Xtreem Music, Sentinel Records, and Metalage Productions. The band is currently signed to Transcending Obscurity Records.
Released on August 5th, 2022, The Wretched Sermon marked a new creative peak for the band, combining crushing brutality with razor-sharp grindcore ferocity. The album received strong praise within the underground metal scene: “The Wretched Sermon sees the pinnacle of this power, as it is an album rich and powerful in tone but never forgetting those barbed wire, disease riddled grind origins. Vicious, brutal and magnificent.”

Following lineup changes in 2024, original vocalist/guitarist Steve Maher departed to focus on his project Ancient Malice. Bassist Cory Annatar returned to the fold, while David Hynes joined the band on vocals, solidifying a renewed four-piece lineup.
In 2025 the band announced the single The Wretched Sermon, scheduled for release on October 31st, continuing their legacy of relentless and uncompromising extreme metal.
