Country: Netherlands
Genre: Alternative Metal
Founded: 2017
First World Appetite is a Dutch alternative metal project that fuses raw emotion, aggression, and introspection into a relentless and uncompromising sound. Formed in 2017 by Ronald de Groot, the project is built around music that is designed to empower — a direct response to personal struggles with mental health, inner conflict, and the search for meaning in a chaotic world.

The project dives deep into themes of social injustice, corruption, and the darker aspects of modern society. There’s no surface-level storytelling here — only honest, unfiltered expression that confronts reality head-on.
Sonically, the project draws heavy inspiration from the raw intensity of the ’90s era, channeling the spirit of bands like Slipknot, Korn, and Marilyn Manson. Expect frantic guitar solos, rapid-fire riffs with industrial undertones, fast-paced drums, and raw, aggressive vocal performances that push emotion to the edge.
In 2022, First World Appetite released the album LXIV, exploring similar themes of inner struggle, identity, and societal pressure. In 2024, the project followed up with a cover of Goin’ Out West by Tom Waits, reimagined through a darker, heavier lens.
First World Appetite isn’t just music — it’s confrontation, release, and empowerment in its purest form.
