Country: Finland
Genre: Hard Rock, Metal
Founded: 2005
Serpico was founded in 2005 by vocalist Vee Dour (Kalle Virtanen) and guitarist Snage (Mika Muinonen). Drummer Jaakko Kakko soon left, and childhood friend Jani Järvelin took over drums. Guitarist Kimmo Hautamäki joined, and although the group recorded an album Utopia +358, it was never released. Instead, the EP Bad Commercial came out in 2011, produced at Headline Studio by Jani Viitanen of Yö, also Jani’s godfather.
Bassist Turo Sinkkonen departed and was replaced by Antti “Andy” Fager, solidifying the lineup. In 2011, Serpico opened for Mad Juana (Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks). Their first full-length, Shallow Mistress (2014), ranked fifth in Levykauppa X’s annual new band poll, and the band toured across the Baltics and Sweden.

In 2015, Serpico released Rock Tattoo, preceded by singles Shout and Ain’t Better to Leave. A tough UK tour followed, with poor arrangements but plenty of grit. That same year they played MotoRockFest with Michael Monroe. Hautamäki later left, replaced by Eddy (Rust’n’Rage). By 2017, Rock Tattoo gained international praise, including mentions from Noddy Holder and Canadian channel A&P Reacts.
In 2019, Eddy departed, and the band worked with producer Anssi Kippo (Children of Bodom), recording fully analog. Signing with Rockshots Records, they released The Chosen Four (2022), praised by critics and musicians alike. Bassist Matti Gustafsson joined in 2021, and the band signed booking deals covering Europe, Asia, and the Americas. They shared stages with The 69 Eyes and Geoff Tate in 2023.
In 2024, Serpico signed with Golden Robot Records for their new album Dressed in Flesh, produced again with Anssi Kippo and released in September 2025. The record blends classic rock ’n’ roll with fresh energy, featuring singles like Hard as a Cannonball.
Producer Anssi Kippo sums it up: “Serpico stands out with strong songwriting and the feel of danger that true rock music needs. With the right support, they could sell a lot of records.”
